What is a
SPAM Zombie?
Virus Worries
Unlike the friendly mailman in the picture above, a SPAM Zombie is a personal computer that is controlled by someone other than it's owner, SPAM Zombies are responsible for a good deal of the SPAM email arriving in your inbox and are usually created when a virus gets into the machine and opens a "back door".  A back door allows someone (in this case an unscrupulous individual) to use your computer and its internet connection to send out thousands of pieces of junk mail. The people who control SPAM Zombies may organize thousands of computers into a SPAM Zombie network, used to flood the internet with millions unwanted emails each day. The programs that control these computers also go through their hosts email address book and send those  addresses off to their masters.
