Do you
type in your email password each time you start your email program or
did you click on the little "remember my password" check box so you
never have to type it in? If you did the latter then ask yourself "why
I have a password"?
Passwords are there to keep nosey people out of your business. A
personal diary has a lock on it (albeit not usually a very good one),
your car has a key, your bank account has a PIN, and your computer
account and email have passwords. OK, enough preaching... here's the
tips.
Don't
use the "remember my password" feature. If that PC gets stolen your
life is an open book.
Don't
use names of people places or things as your password.

Mix
up the capitals and small letters.
Use
numbers in place of letters (O is the 15th letter of the alphabet so
J15hN is really JohN.
Keep
passwords at least 8 characters long.
Add
numbers (like the year you were born (j15hN58)) and substitute symbols
for letters (C@@LOne2)
Have some fun with your passwords and the crackers will have a harder
time breaking in.
